In order to mark the 500-year anniversary of the death of the artist, the Scuderie del Quirinale presents in collaboration with the Uffizi Gallery, the exhibition RAFFAELLO. A monographic exhibit, with more than 200 masterpieces like paintings, drawings and related works, dedicated to the artist died on April 6th 1520 at the age of 37.
Born in the city of Urbino, student of Perugino, Raphael moved to Rome at the time of the renaissance till becoming incomparable protagonist of that age.He worked at the court of the greatest patrons of the time, like Popes and Cardinals, to become together with Michelangelo, the favorite artist of Rome.The divine painter was so in love with Rome, that asked to be buried in the Pantheon, were he still is. And it is about his roman period that that the exhibit takes inspiration telling visitors all details of his incredible creative and artistic career, thanks to works of art that have never been gathered together before.
Many are the institutions involved that contributed to the creation of the initiative with masterpieces of their collections: Gallerie Nazionali d’Arte Antica (Palazzo Barberini) , the art Gallery of Bologna, the Museum of Capodimonte, the National Archeological Museum of Napoli, the Fondazione Brescia Musei, the Vatican Museusm, the Louvre, the National Gallery of Londra, the Prado Museum, the National Gallery of Art of Washington, the Albertina di Vienna, the British Museum, the Royal Collection, the Ashmolean Museum of Oxford and the Musée des Beaux-Arts di Lille.
