The Rome City Center Tour will take you with and expert Tour Guide on a walk through the extraordinary views of the Historical Center of the city. It will offer you the opportunity to explore the historical stratifications and art evolution of the city, and you will experience a stroll among monuments and churches, perfect for your first day or at the end of your holiday in Italy.
This tour is full of attractions, and it is the perfect one to complete your experience in Rome, together with the Tour of the Vatican Museums, the Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Ancient Rome Tour (Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill). You will see a lot of sites, you will hear an incredible amount of stories provided by your Tour Guide and you will be able to follow the line of the artistic evolution of the Eternal City over the years.
We will start the tour of the city of Rome from the perspective of the Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna); at the foot of it, we will admire the Fountain of the Ugly Boat, fantastic work by Pietro and Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
Continuing the route of our City Tour, we will arrive in front of the iconic Trevi Fountain, a perfect mix of sculpture and architecture: used as a stage for various movies. In addition to it, it is still the place where the travelers respect the tradition of coin tossing in the water, that represents a real portion of the Roman history.
Crossing the street of Via del Corso, passing by Column Square (Piazza Colonna) to examine the Aurelian Column, we will reach the Pantheon. It is the most important temple of Roman times, today the burial place of Raphael and the Italian Kings: our tour will include the visit inside of the monument, to study its massive architecture.
After that, we will then continue the City Tour with a visit to the Church of St. Louis of French, that houses in the Contarelli Chapel three masterpieces by Caravaggio linked to the life of St. Matthew.
Finally, the City Tour will reach Navona Square (Piazza Navona), built on the ruins of the ancient stadium of Domitian, whose shape it still preserves, overlooked by the Church of St. Agnese in Agone by Borromini and the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini, in perfidious contrast with each other.
DETAILS OF THE TOUR
The duration of the Tour with our English speaking Guide will be about 3 hours, and will include a visit inside the Pantheon and the Church of St. Louis of French. During the Tour of the City Centre of Rome we can easily include a coffee or ice cream break for the children.
