ST. PETER AND VATICAN MUSEUMS TOUR – ROME GUIDES
ST. PETER AND VATICAN MUSEUMS – ROME GUIDES
With the St. Peter and Vatican Museums Tour we will access the Vatican City State, which today represents the pulsating centre of the Catholic Church.
The St. Peter’s Basilica, built in the 4th Century by Constantine over the tomb of the Apostle, was entirely rebuilt in the Renaissance by extraordinary architects such as Bramante and Michelangelo. In the middle of the Baroque period, it was then preceded by an exceptional vestibule: Bernini’s famous elliptical square, surrounded by the famous colonnade.
You can admire St. Peter’s Basilica, together with the other three major Basilicas of Rome, also during our Main Basilicas Tour.
The Vatican Museums undoubtedly hold a museum collection unique in the world, spanning from the antiquity of Egyptian, Etruscan and Roman art to contemporary art. Obviously, the most priceless gems are the papal apartment frescoed by Raphael and the famous Sistine Chapel, still today the seat of the Conclave.
