VILLAS OF TIVOLI TOUR – ROME GUIDES

The Villas of Tivoli Tour will take you away from the chaotic city of rome, going close to the Tiburtini Hills, in an area rich in sulphurous springs, tuff and travertine quarries. There, the extraordinary ruins of the Hadrian’s Villa (Villa Adriana) stand out today. The remains of the site narrate in detail the grandeur of the private residence built by the Emperor Hadrian to commemorate the monuments and the places he visited during his travels through the Roman Empire.

These unique ruins, speaking a “magnetic artistic language”, have fascinated and inspired intellectuals from all over the world: the line of the itinerary starts from the Pecile, to include the Seven Philosophers’ Hall, the Small and Great Baths and the mysterious Maritime Theatre.

Abandoning the memories of the Imperial Rome, the tour will explore the harmonic architecture of Villa d’Este, one of the most beautiful residences of 16th Century, in a late Renaissance style that will surprise you. The gems of the Villa’s gardens are the famous fountains, with hundreds of water games operated by the natural pressure of the river Aniene. The Organ Fountain will leave you literally ecstatic with its music, and the gardens will refresh you during the summer heat.

You will love this tour: consider that, in the last years, the two sites of Tivoli have been always inserted in the list of the 25 most visited places of Italy, as they represent an important portion of the Italian cultural heritage.

A visit to the Hadrian’s Villa can be perfectly connected to the Tour of Ancient Ostia, that you could book to understand the archaeological differences between the different historical phases of the Ancient Rome.
